It is used in the coating of laundry unit doses in order to minimize their disintegration during manipulation.
The available data indicate that the substance is not harmful to aquatic organisms. Adipic acid is readily and completely biodegradable (Modified Sturm test: 100% CO2 production) and highly removed in waste water treatment plant (~ 99%).
