Chelators
These form water soluble complexes with heavy metal ions in the wash water and brought in by the clothes. This helps to stabilise the bleach which is rapidly decomposed by heavy metal ions. It also helps stain removal of highly coloured stains such as Tea, Coffee and red wine.
