What regulations face a detergent company?
There are many laws with which P&G' s Fabric and Home Care Products business must comply in order to market products in Europe.
Is the product I use biodegradable? What's the best product for the environment?
Biodegradation is a process by which micro-organisms such as bacteria and fungi break down organic materials into smaller compounds, nutrients and water. When biodegradation is complete, there is no concern about potential effects on the environment.

Why did P&G create this website?
In 1999, P&G held two Western European stakeholder conferences about the environmental performance of detergents in Brussels. The main topic of the first conference was how to communicate environmental performance of products to the public. Science-in-the-box was created to address this identified need.
