Objective
The objective of this Directive is to provide the users of detergents with information about ingredients of detergents which may cause allergic reactions. This Directive applies to detergents which are made for washing dishes, crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen utensils by hand. It lists 26 allergenic fragrance chemicals which must be labelled on detergents packets if added above a certain concentration (0.01% weight/weight).
Background
Increasing numbers of allergies seen in recent years makes detergent manufacturers aware of their responsibility to protect consumers from any allergic reactions their products may provoke. By following this directive manufacturers allow consumers to consumers obtain information describing the name or names of 26 fragrances which may cause an allergic reaction. The information may either be stated on the packaging or alternatively be made available on a web-site indicated on the packaging.
