Environmental Management Framework

Fields of Performance
Over the course of the last 10 years, P&G has developed systems to guide its decision-making towards more sustainable practices and products. We refer to this group of systems as the Environmental Management Framework (EMF). Notwithstanding the name, the EMF embraces social responsibility as well as environmental protection (which is its main focus).

The essence of the EMF is to guide and monitor P&G's performance in four areas, namely:
In each area, objectives are clearly defined in such a way that progress towards them is measurable. For instance, one such objective is to lower the emissions from our manufacturing operations.

Lasting Challenge
By referring to the goals of Environmental Risk Management, P&G's decisions and actions are constantly challenged to make sure that they move us towards, not away from, the objectives.

For example, each new product is assessed to make sure that manufacturing processes will not result in increased emissions. At the same time we look for opportunities to decrease emissions.

Long-term trends are evaluated against the objectives, to make sure that we keep on track. Annually, our progress is made public in the company's environmental report.
