P&G advice on how you can cut energy use

P&G is doing all it can to help the environment. But to really make an impact, your help is needed.

That's because the energy savings P&G can make in the manufacture and distribution of P&G products are important but small compared to what you can do at the turn of a dial.

According to the Energy Saving Trust, in the UK electricity consumption by domestic lights and appliances has doubled since 1970 and is set to go up another 12 per cent by 2010.

Our homes are responsible for 30 per cent of the country's total energy use and more than a quarter of all carbon dioxide emissions.

But there are lots of things you can do to save energy around the home, when you use P&G products and otherwise, and P&G is keen for you learn about them.

As members of the International Association for Soaps, Detergents and Maintenance Products (A.I.S.E.), P&G fully supports the European Union's Intelligent Energy Europe project, which aims to uncover untapped opportunities to save energy.

For now, here are some tips to help you work out how much energy you use in the wash, what you can do to reduce it, what products to use, how you can cut carbon emissions elsewhere in the home and some general advice on saving power.
